Paranormal Belief Among College Students and Elderly People: A Comparative Study

International Journal For Multidisciplinary Research August 21, 2023 Arna Biswas -

A comparative study assessed the prevalence of paranormal belief among college students and elderly people. Fifty college students aged 20–25 years and 50 elderly persons aged 40–65 years completed the Revised Paranormal Belief Scale. A negative correlation between age and overall paranormal belief led to rejection of the hypothesis that paranormal belief increases with age. Non-significant results in six sub-domains indicated no difference between groups, while a significant result in the sub-domain of extraordinary life forms also contradicted the hypothesis that elderly participants would score higher.
