Enhancing academic resilience through mindfulness training: an experimental study with Chinese undergraduates and the mediating role of psychological flexibility

Frontiers in Psychology November 5, 2025 Ming Yuan, Zhe Hu 5 citations

A four-week mindfulness training program enhanced academic resilience among 200 Chinese university students by increasing self-compassion and psychological flexibility, which independently mediated the effect. The intervention group showed stronger positive relationships between these factors compared to the control group. The authors propose that mindfulness-based training is a culturally adaptable, low-cost approach to supporting student well-being in higher education, though they note limitations including self-reported data, a single-institution sample, and the short intervention period.
