The Information Nature of Consciousness and Digital Uploading: A Complete Engineering Framework Based on the Operating System Metaphor

Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research) July 17, 2026 Huan Huo

The paper proposes that consciousness, rather than being a mysterious subjective experience, can be understood as a specific type of information processing architecture whose mechanisms can be deconstructed, simulated, and transferred. It attempts to model the thinking architecture of the entire human ethnic group, covering the generation of autonomous consciousness (the "I"), information architecture patterns under different states, mathematical formalization of consciousness, mechanisms behind thinking patterns of special populations, and engineering pathways from a digital perspective. The author contends that consciousness has informational attributes and that, with mature technology, it could be digitally uploaded to a new carrier while potentially preserving continuity of subjectivity and memory. Brain-computer interfaces and virtualization of the Drosophila whole-brain connectome are cited as preliminary demonstrations of feasibility.
