Tembé shamanic practices in the Alto Rio Guamá Indigenous Land, northeastern Pará, Brazil, incorporate elements of African and European origin alongside Indigenous traditions, revealing afroindigenous relations within villages. The study maps the specificities of pajelança—shamanic healing and ritual practices—among the Tembé do Guamá, showing how these people creatively integrated exogenous elements to enhance their traditional practices and demarcate aspects of their identity and territoriality.
