Influence of Age and Gender on Mindfulness-Cognitive Science

Indian Journal of Public Health Research & Development March 23, 2020 M. Thirumaran, Manibalan Vijayaraman, Mohammed Irfan et al.

Mindfulness, the ability to be fully aware of the present moment, was assessed in 330 adults using the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale. Most participants scored between 3 and 5 out of 6. Females had a higher average mindfulness score than males, though the difference was not statistically significant. As age increased, mindfulness scores also tended to increase, but this trend was not statistically significant either. The findings suggest that mindfulness may be greater in older individuals and in females, but the evidence is not strong enough to confirm these differences.
