Augustine's De Trinitate argues that self-knowledge provides a sufficient epistemological foundation to defend the incorporeal nature of the mind. Memory and will are constitutive structures of the mind. The paper concludes that Augustinian thought remains relevant to contemporary debates in the philosophy of mind.
