Among 340 adults with chronic low back pain, an 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program was compared with usual care. At 26 weeks, MBSR led to greater improvement in back pain and functional limitations than usual care. The authors suggest that MBSR may be an effective treatment option for patients with chronic low back pain.
