The Orch OR model, which proposes that microtubules in brain cells perform quantum computations to produce consciousness, is not biologically feasible. Recent experimental studies on microtubule assembly and dynamics show that tubulin proteins lack essential properties required for the model to work. Additionally, progress in understanding long-lived coherent motions in biological systems demonstrates that no reformulation of the proposal based on known physical paradigms could enable quantum computing within microtubules. Therefore, the Orch OR model is not a viable explanation for the origin of consciousness.
