Sleep paralysis, a complex and often frightening phenomenon where a person wakes but is temporarily unable to move or speak, accompanied by intense fear and sensory hallucinations, is analyzed through an Islamic perspective. The article uses an interdisciplinary approach. In Islam, this experience is called Al-jathum, meaning a jinn sitting on the chest, often linked to neglecting prayers or other duties. Spiritual protection, faith, and understanding of a higher power are considered key to overcoming or preventing sleep paralysis.
