Integration of Sufism and Transpersonal Psychology

International Journal of Religion April 23, 2024 Sri Haryanto, Mohammad Muslih 2 citations

Sufism and transpersonal psychology together offer alternative perspectives and practices for addressing identity crisis, existential anxiety, and the search for meaning in modern life. Through phenomenological qualitative methodology, data from in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with students and supervisors at the Al-Huda Islamic Boarding School in Central Lombok show that integrating Sufistic spiritual understanding with transpersonal psychological insight facilitates holistic self-development, guiding higher consciousness and a more meaningful life. The dialogue between Islamic spiritual traditions and modern psychological science enriches theoretical understanding and daily practice for self-integration and spiritual depth.

The Contribution of Transpersonal Psychology to The Emotional, Mental, and Spiritual Well-Being of Individuals

Islamic Guidance and Counseling Journal February 17, 2025 Sri Haryanto, Mohammad Muslih

Transpersonal psychology, through practices like mindfulness, meditation, and holotropic therapy, enhances emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being by fostering self-exploration, trauma healing, and spiritual development. Mindfulness and meditation cultivate present-moment awareness and emotional balance, while holotropic therapy enables access to higher states of consciousness and emotional processing. Integrating these practices into daily life helps individuals maintain transpersonal awareness despite everyday challenges. The research underscores the importance of a holistic psychological approach that includes the spiritual dimension for comprehensive personal growth.
