“Gifts of Light”—Chiara Lubich’s Mystical Narrative with Hindus: An Analysis of a Hindu–Christian Dialogue Experience

A Catholic woman who had a mystical experience shared aspects of it with Hindus, neo-Vedanta scholars, and Gandhian social activists, creating an unusual instance of interreligious dialogue. This paper offers a first phenomenological analysis of that encounter, which appears to be unique in the sphere of interfaith relations. The account focuses on how traits of her experience were communicated across cultural and religious boundaries, suggesting a rare form of communion and unity between people of different faiths.
