Characteristics of the Mystical Experiences of Blessed Marcelina Darowska Based on Her Selected Writings
Verbum Vitae June 25, 2026 Marta Kowalczyk
Blessed Marcelina Darowska (1827–1911), a Polish mystic, had a rich inner life that places her among contemplative and apostolic mystics. Her writings—a diary, notes, and a treatise—reveal mystical experiences occurring during deep contemplation, along with ascetic practices and frequent reception of the sacraments of penance and the Eucharist. These experiences included visions, revelations, conversions of hearts, mystical marriages, prophetic gifts, readings of souls, and graces strengthening spousal love and inner development. The profound inner experiences described in her writings indicate she belongs among great Christian mystics.
