The Effect of a Singing Bowl Loving-Kindness Meditation Program on Life Stress and EEG in Adults

Journal of the Korea Academia-Industrial cooperation Society March 31, 2023 Mi Yu, Sang-Il Youn, Hee-Wook Weon

A seven-day singing bowl loving-kindness meditation program, practiced 60 minutes daily, produced a significant change in role-related life stress among adults aged 40 to 64. No significant changes were observed for economic, family, or health-related stress. EEG measurements showed a significant difference in beta1 waves, associated with physical stress and self-feedback ability, but not in alpha or beta2 waves related to mental stress. The authors conclude the program improves life stress and brain waves, noting the value of objective EEG evidence.
