Bridging Science and Spirituality: Investigating the Effects of OM Chanting on Brain Waves

Sakarya University Journal of Computer and Information Sciences October 13, 2025 Archana Bajirao Kanwade, Neeta N. Thune, Wanus Srimaharaj et al.

Listening to OM chanting increases alpha wave amplitudes by 34.2% and improves the theta/beta ratio by 85.4%, indicating relaxation, emotional regulation, and focus, while decreasing beta waves associated with stress and cognitive overload. These EEG-measured changes suggest stronger neural integration between brain hemispheres, positioning OM chanting as a potential neurotherapeutic tool for stress management and cognitive enhancement.
