Concept of Shadchakra in Ayurveda and Yoga: Its Role in Pranic Healing and Holistic Health
International Journal of Ayurveda and Pharma Research June 7, 2026 T.N Haritha, Alfi Albert, Ravi Kumar et al.
The Shadchakra system, describing six energy centers along the spine, is a cornerstone of Ayurvedic and Yogic philosophy. Modern research correlates these centers with anatomical structures and psycho-neuro-immunological pathways, lending credibility to their therapeutic use. Evidence from studies on Chakra-based practices like Pranayama, Mantra therapy, and meditation shows measurable improvements in stress biomarkers, autonomic nervous system balance, neuroendocrine function, and psychological well-being. This review synthesizes classical texts and modern research to propose a model for clinical applications in holistic health, psychosomatic medicine, and integrative oncology.
