Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) are recognized as relevant approaches for older adults at risk of cognitive decline, yet few studies have explored the lived experience of participants with cognitive decline accompanied by anxiety-depressive symptoms. This qualitative study examined the experience of 13 adults aged 55 and older who took part in a group MBI. Semi-structured interviews conducted after the intervention were analyzed inductively to identify emerging themes. Results reveal a three-stage experiential trajectory: initial surprise at the practices, a gradual evolution of their individual and interpersonal experience—especially through the group—and a sense of clarification and satisfaction with the program. The analysis highlights important individual and relational processes, underscoring the need to consider various factors when studying the mechanisms and effects of MBIs in older adults.
