A brief mindfulness exercise reduced state anxiety in 30 Turkish adults aged 20–55. Participants were randomly assigned to an eight-minute mindfulness exercise, an audio story, or a scale-only control group. State anxiety was measured before and after the manipulation using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. The mindfulness group showed a statistically significant decrease in state anxiety scores. Women reported higher trait anxiety than men. The findings support the use of short mindfulness practices for anxiety and confirm higher trait anxiety among women in a Turkish population.
