Immediate impact of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) among women with breast cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

BMC Women's Health June 22, 2023 Yun-Chen Chang, T. Tseng, Gen-Min Lin et al.

A meta-analysis of 13 trials (11 in the quantitative synthesis) examined mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) for breast cancer survivors. At the end of the intervention, anxiety, pain, and depression scores decreased significantly, while mindfulness scores increased significantly. Heterogeneity was moderate to high for anxiety, depression, and mindfulness, making the results inconclusive for those outcomes. The authors suggest MBCT may be beneficial for this population but call for more research to clarify its clinical significance.

Evaluation of Guided Respiration Mindfulness Therapy (GRMT) for Reducing Stress in Nurses.

Journal of holistic nursing : official journal of the American Holistic Nurses' Association June 1, 2023 Shu-Chen Wang, Wen-Yu Hu, Lloyd Lalande et al.

Guided respiration mindfulness therapy (GRMT), a clinical breathwork model, reduced psychological distress in nurses more effectively than a mindfulness-based intervention. Across five weekly sessions, nurses receiving GRMT showed large reductions in anxiety and stress, along with increased mindfulness and self-compassion. The comparison mindfulness intervention produced no significant effect on stress. GRMT offers an effective group intervention for nurses to reduce stress and enhance self-care.
