Mindfulness-based programs such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) reduce stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms during pregnancy, and also lessen fear of childbirth, improve childbirth-related self-efficacy, and strengthen maternal-fetal attachment. Some evidence indicates these practices positively influence body image, increase self-compassion, and support adaptation to breastfeeding after birth. Mindfulness-based interventions appear to be promising tools for promoting psychological and physical well-being during pregnancy, though further research on long-term effects is recommended.
