The Impact of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on Chronic Low-Back Pain: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Jmil Khan Ansari preprint
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) significantly reduces pain intensity, improves functional disability, and enhances psychological well-being in individuals with chronic low-back pain compared to standard care. A randomized controlled trial with 100 participants showed these benefits at post-intervention and three-month follow-up. Challenges included participant adherence and variability in treatment response. The findings suggest MBSR may serve as a complementary treatment for chronic low-back pain, though further research is needed to optimize its effectiveness.
