Empowering the elderly mind: Mindfulness as a tool to improve psychological resilience and quality of life.

Bioinformation January 1, 2025 Gomathi Sivaprakash, Venkatesh Mathankumar Vasudevan, Shankar Shanmugam Rajendran et al.

A quasi-experimental study of 60 older adults found that an eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program improved quality of life and psychological well-being. Participants in the MBSR group showed a moderate positive correlation between improved quality of life and well-being (r = 0.46), while the control group receiving routine care showed a weak, non-significant correlation (r = 0.15). MBSR appears to enhance both mental health and quality of life in older adults.
