Effect of Meditation on electro encephalographic graph (EEG), blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate

MRIMS Journal of Health Sciences January 1, 2013 R Sundarachari, VK Dhanasree Naidu, Prashant Kokiwar et al. 1 citation

Meditation increases alpha brainwave activity (8 Hz) in the occipital region and decreases beta activity in the parietal region. Diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate are significantly lower before and during meditation among regular meditators compared to non-meditators. Systolic blood pressure does not show a significant difference. The findings suggest meditation positively influences brain electrical activity and certain physiological measures.
