CONNECTION BETWEEN MIND AND BODY IN PSYCHOTHERAPY AND HOLISTIC HEALTH: A UNIFIED VIEW

October 30, 2025 Anuradha Gupta, Darshita Porwal

This chapter argues for moving beyond mind-body dualism toward an embodied approach to mental health, emphasizing the ongoing interplay among environment, body, and brain in shaping cognitive and emotional processes. It reviews evidence from yoga, mindfulness, somatic therapies, virtual reality, and biofeedback, drawing on grounded cognition, psychoneuroimmunology, and embodied cognition. The authors present the biopsychosocial model as a framework linking biological, psychological, and social factors. They advocate for evidence-based, experiential mental health care and propose future research directions, including examining neurophysiological processes, integrating artificial intelligence and biometric feedback for personalized therapies, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

Yoga-Mimamsa January 12, 2023 Medha Bhatt, Akshay Vashisht, Rupam Verma et al.

A bibliometric analysis of AUM meditation research identified 50 relevant publications from the Dimensions.ai database, following PRISMA guidelines. India produced the majority of the research. Most publications (62%) were in the field of Medical and Health, and 16% in Psychology and Cognitive Sciences. The International Journal of Yoga had the most publications (26.66%) and citations (40.87%). Strongest linkages were found for author Venkatasubramanian, Ganesan, country India, and the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. The analysis synthesized 48 years of research, highlighting key trends and providing a platform for future studies on AUM meditation.
