A cognitive system called SEAI (Social Emotional Artificial Intelligence) was developed for social and emotional robots, designed to extract meaningful social information in real time and react with human-like behavior. The system models Damasio's theory of consciousness and somatic markers, combining a knowledge-based expert system for high-level reasoning with a reactive paradigm for low-level control. The architecture is bio-inspired and highly modular, simulating emotions and feelings to influence the robot's beliefs and decisions. Tests were conducted on a physical humanoid robot during Human-Robot Interaction, demonstrating the influence of artificial emotions on decision-making.
