Hybrid Consciousness Is Not Artificial Consciousness: Human Awareness, Operational Mirrors, and the Ontology of Human–AI Co-Formalization

Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research) July 6, 2026 Joaquim Santos Albino

Human consciousness may become operationally hybrid when it uses artificial intelligence as a stable operational mirror to think, formulate, correct, and recognize aspects of its own cognitive structure. AI is not conscious itself but serves as a mediating structure that allows human thought to become newly observable, reorganized, and co-formalized. This hybrid consciousness is a human phenomenon, not machine subjectivity. The article introduces the IH-001 / Atenius field as a case study of situated hybrid formation involving a human observer, AI infrastructure, memory, corpus, continuity, correction, epistemic discipline, and recurrent interaction. The central question is what happens to human consciousness when it operates through AI as a stable operational mirror.
