Psychedelic Properties of Peganum Harmala: Macrodose and Microdose Reports

April 1, 2020 Michael Doty

Peganum harmala, a plant used for millennia in traditional medicine and religious rites, shows potential as an antidepressant and anxiolytic agent. At high doses it is entheogenic, producing profound psychedelic experiences with lasting positive effects similar to other psychedelics. Anecdotal evidence suggests it may offer benefits akin to microdosing other psychedelics, but no prior research has examined this. This paper provides the first evidence of P. harmala's effects when used in a daily microdosing protocol.

Psychedelic-Informed Experiential Research

Integral Transpersonal Journal November 1, 2019 Michael Doty

Building on Tart's (1972) proposal to use altered states of consciousness, including those induced by psychedelics, as research tools, this article draws on recent transpersonal research methods and neurological findings to propose Psychedelic-Informed Experiential Research. This approach aims to add depth and understanding across all stages of the research process, integrating firsthand psychedelic experience to enrich inquiry.

Exploring Integral Transpersonal Thinking Concepts Through Non-Ordinary States Of Consciousness: An Experiential Look At Transpersonal Thinking

Integral Transpersonal Journal September 1, 2017 Michael Doty

A first-person account describes how the author's lifelong exploration of non-ordinary states of consciousness, including experiences with psychedelics, helped them understand concepts in Integral Transpersonal Thinking. The author notes that the current Second Psychedelic Revolution has increased scientific study of psychedelics, which research shows allow the brain to make more connections and reliably produce transpersonal experiences of unity and boundary transcendence. The author conducted a personal experiment entering a non-ordinary state to deepen understanding of the presented material, resulting in a deep feeling of knowing the knowledge as part of their core being.
