Abstract

Abstract: The Mystical Experience Questionnaire (MEQ-30) is a measure to characterize a single mystical experience (one that is usually, though not necessarily, elicited by the use of a psychedelic drug). It contains four subscales: mystical, positive mood, transcendence of time and space, and ineffability. It is based upon Stace’s (1960) phenomenological classification of a proposed universal core to mysticism, and thus, could be applied to any religious or spiritual tradition.
