Abstract
The effect of Ketamine on therapy resistant major depression In scientific publications we can easily find more and more research on the possible positive effects of different kinds of psychedelics, such as ketamine, for example in major depression. The aim of this paper is to present the current state of this controversial topic, starting with the invention of psychedelics, the history of using these drugs, their acceptance, describing briefly the biological background, providing an overview about the most recent scientific results, along with highlighting their possible contradictions, and explore the scientific view of the Hungarian researches on the topic.Furthermore, I would like to show; what are the most common questions of today's studies, and finally, to discuss the problems concerning the practical application of this alternative cure.Putting theory into practice must highlight some issues which need to be considered.I would like to show the most important results of current studies which show a promising way in terms of healing. To sum up, I would like to emphasize the positive, proved effects of ketamine as an alternative and efficient cure for therapy resistant major depression.I would also emphasize the PESZEKI NIKOLETT difficulties of this way of healing, which should be seen as a holistic, universal problem in medicine. These problems not only make the given issue problematic, but also mean a barrier for a plenty of other innovations.
