Abstract

Medical students and junior doctors experience significant stress during their training. Mindfulness has been identified as a potential tool for mitigating stress and improving wellbeing in these populations. Recently, online mindfulness programs have been evaluated due to their perceived enhanced accessibility, flexibility and standardisation compared to in-person delivery. Undertaken in Western Australia, this thesis evaluated a tailored 8-week online mindfulness training program and found modest quantitative improvements in aspects of wellbeing among medical students, but not among junior doctors. Qualitative findings provided useful insights into the enhancing and limiting factors for program engagement.
