Key points The author reports that recent meta-analyses show imagery-based treatments for PTSD nightmares improve nightmare frequency, sleep quality, and PTSD symptoms, and argues these approaches have demonstrated some efficacy overseas. The author discusses adapting them for routine clinical practice in Japan and presents a psychoeducational booklet created for this purpose, expressing hope that effectiveness will be verified in Japan through further practice.
