Characteristics Case series Case report Peer reviewed
Sample size 5
Population Patients with treatment-resistant depression (two with recurrent depressive disorder, one with bipolar affective disorder, two with severe depressive episode), resistant to pharmacological treatment, electroconvulsive therapy, and rTMS
Intervention Ketamine
Dose 0.5 mg/kg
Topics Esketamine Ketamine
Key findings In five patients with depression resistant to multiple biological treatments, subanesthetic ketamine at 0.5 mg/kg produced only transient mental state improvement, with effectiveness substantially lower than expected from previous reports. The authors argue that this may reflect resistance to prior biological treatments, comorbid anxiety and somatization, or group heterogeneity, and conclude that the results do not support ketamine monotherapy in this population.

Abstract

Cel: W ostatnich latach opublikowano wiele opisów dotyczących możliwości uzyskania szybkiej i istotnej klinicznie poprawy stanu psychicznego u pacjentów z rozpoznaniem depresji po podaniu antagonisty receptorów N-metylo-D-asparaginowych (NMDA) - ketaminy.
