Abstract
Pretendo neste artigo fazer uma breve análise do processo de "miração" , ou "imagens mentais espontâneas" , que é o processo imaginativo experienciado durante o uso ritual da ayahuasca, bebida psicoativa utilizada por indígenas amazônicos e em algumas religiões brasileiras. A imaginação é vista como uma "força" , ou o poder da mente de distorcer imagens, e não de cria-las. A imaginação, longe de ser vista como algo relacionado à ficção ou à irrealidade, é entendida então como a base da realidade, influenciando e sendo influenciada por estados mentais, emocionais, físicos/corporais. Sendo assim, os processos imaginativos podem ser vistos como capazes de modificação de comportamento.
