Abstract

This paper examines the presence of attention function deficits in individuals with test anxiety and the possibility of interventions for them. It is shown that test anxiety leads to deficits in attention functioning, such as attention bias during attention, i.e., difficulty disengaging attention from distracting information, and difficulty inhibiting attention during selective attention. The attention deficits caused by test anxiety may further exacerbate individuals' anxiety and affect their academic performance. mindfulness training is a type of attention training that can improve an individual's attention function. Therefore, this paper explores the possibility that mindfulness training can improve the attention function deficits of test-anxious individuals, and future research can target the attention inhibition function of test-anxious individuals with mindfulness training to improve the ability to inhibit distracting information, to be able to disengage from distracting stimuli more quickly, to improve attention disengagement function, and thus to alleviate their anxiety.
