Abstract

Visualizing the human subconscious presents significant challenges due to its abstract nature. This paper introduces Dream Complex, an Augmented Reality (AR) system that combines physical models with digital interfaces to create a tangible, non-linear dream narrative. Based on psychoanalytic theories, we developed a 3D coordinate system categorizing dreams by emotion type, amplitude, and consciousness level. These data points are materialized into an AR installation, utilizing raster-engraved acrylic patterns as robust image tracking markers. Users scan these tangible markers via a mobile application to collect "emotional fragments" and drive the narrative. Iterative user testing demonstrates that this hybrid physical-digital approach significantly enhances engagement and narrative comprehension. Dream Complex offers a novel interactive paradigm for emotional visualization, with scalable applications in immersive storytelling and psychotherapy.
