Abstract

This paper examines a structural convergence between two independently developed frameworks for understanding the relationship between observation and reality: the quantum measurement problem in physics, and the epistemological principles found in Vedantic witness-consciousness traditions and the philosophical writings of Alan Watts. We argue that both frameworks arrive, through different methodologies, at the same foundational proposition-that preferential observation distorts the field being observed, and that non-preferential awareness constitutes a fundamentally different and more complete mode of knowing. We further propose that this convergence has architectural implications for the design of intelligent systems, suggesting that current computational paradigms, which embed optimization preferences at their foundational layer, may be systemically limited in ways that a non-preferential observational architecture would not be. This paper does not claim quantum mechanical causation for contemplative phenomena, nor does it claim spiritual validation for quantum findings. It claims a structural isomorphism worthy of serious interdisciplinary investigation.
