Abstract
Abstract The purpose of this chapter is to describe the framework of mindful parenting and mindfulness-based parent training (MBPT). An overview of the empirical support for mindful parenting is provided, along with a brief description of MBPT programs that have been evaluated. The chapter highlights two case examples of MBPT implemented in school settings. The first example describes a six-week, one-hour, parent group for preschool families, and the second describes a three-week, one-and-a-half-hour parent mindfulness workshop for families in a school district. Parent recruitment, rationale for implementation, and topics covered in these programs are discussed for each case. The chapter also includes brief discussion of limitations and future direction for progressing research in this area.
