Abstract

Abstract The focus of this chapter is to detail two brief mindfulness-based interventions (MBI) for use in school settings: an evidence-based five-session curriculum for student disruptive behavior called Soles of the Feet and basic guided mindfulness practices. The nature, advantages, and evidence base of these two brief forms of MBI are reviewed in relation to more intensive forms of mindfulness programming. The chapter also discusses limitations of the current research and future directions for enhancing evidence for brief MBIs in schools. Ultimately, the chapter concludes that brief MBIs may offer a more appealing format of intervention service delivery in schools compared with more time- and resource-intensive mindfulness programming.
