Abstract
This article examines the philosophy of yoga as an ancient teaching and addresses the problems of consciousness, being, matter, and human existence. It also interprets philosophical categories such as the Human Spirit (spiritual substance – Purusha) and matter (material nature – Prakriti), which provide human consciousness with access to its higher transcendental Self – the Universal Spirit. The focus is on the issues of the nature of consciousness, the subconscious, and the unconscious, which contain hidden depths that philosophers attempt to decipher as the primordial consciousness. Special attention is given to the analysis of the dualistic concept of Purusha and Prakriti within the framework of Sankhya yoga, exploring the differences between empirical and transcendental levels of existence. The ontological and gnoseological aspects of yoga are examined, highlighting their significance for understanding the essence of human beings.Furthermore, attention is given to how the philosophy of yoga contributes to understanding the inner harmony between the microcosm (the subjectiv world of the individual) and the macrocosm (the universe). The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of yoga philosophy in the context of contemporary searches for the meaning of life and spiritual development, highlighting its relevance for modern individuals.
