Abstract
In this chapter the pre-natal period is considered the beginning of soul education. It offers two birth stories from two perspectives: that of the son and that of the mother. The son’s account alerts us to open up more to appreciate early and before-birth experiences: to see the other side of the world. Introducing her own pregnancy/birth experiences with poems and drawing on her yoga teacher training, Nozawa shares how she has learned to trust the body’s wisdom and to connect to new souls residing inside. As in holistic education where it is beneficial for teachers to engage in the contemplative practices, she suggests that birth related professionals and parents, especially mothers engage in contemplative practices to cultivate their own “beings” and welcome new beings from a more soul-aware perspective.
