Abstract
This article is a review of the paper Consciousness and Cognitive Science by Henrique Schutzer Del Nero and Jose Roberto Castilho Piqueira. The paper proposes a model for consciousness based upon the hypothesis: a) the core of human cognition is consciousness and b) the Theory of Dynamical System furnishes a good conceptual tool to endorse a project that compatibilizer reduction and the emergence of the “mental” to the “physical”. I found the theory of dynamical systems accurate for explaining human cognition as the integration of dynamical systems theory with neuroscience provides a powerful framework for exploring the intricate relationship between mental processes and physical activities. The limitation I found in this article was the abandonment of the intricate interplay between consciousness and subconsciousness that forms the bedrock of human cognition. A comprehensive understanding of human cognition necessitates acknowledging the indispensable role played by subconscious processes- automatic, implicit, and often operating beneath the surface of conscious awareness. This discussion review delves into the dual nature of consciousness and subconsciousness in the context of human cognition by combining the fields of philosophy, and linguistics and by examining the contributions of each aspect to language comprehension, production, and overall cognitive functioning. I aim to elucidate the role of subconsciousness in cognitive activities by understanding the pragmatic aspects of language use, context-dependent meanings, and integration of ambiguous phrases.
