Astral Projection

Abstract

The astral projectionist would thus find himself sometimes engaged in a confrontation with ‘spiritual images’ in a fantastic drama, sometimes enacting very powerful cosmic ‘events’ which impressed him deeply at the time as being equally as true and valid as the phenomena of everyday reality. Sylvan Muldoon, who is best known for his book ‘The Projection of the Astral Body’ first published in 1929, began experiencing unusual psychic dissociation from the age of twelve. Sylvan Muldoon considered the astral counterpart to be the real and animating body, and the normal physical body to be no more than a shell for the perceptive consciousness. The full astral projection occurs, according to Muldoon, when the beholder is fully ‘aware’ of the dream, and it has become as credibly ‘real’ as normal waking consciousness. Muldoon’s main method of ‘separation’ involved a process he called dream control.
