Abstract

This chapter gives an overview of the various readings as to what dreams are which support the investigation of the nature of my own dreaming consciousness, examining the narrative qualities and properties of a series of dreams recorded from 2011 onwards, in preparation for an examination of dream plays in Part 2 . My dream reports are not recounted for analysis and interpretation, nor for seeking explanations of source or function but for investigating the attributes of my dreaming world, focusing on the properties of the dream environment and contents formed out of remembered information.
