Abstract
Este artigo reflete sobre a expansão global da Ayahuasca e suas implicações para a redução de danos em saúde mental e para as transformações na psique individual e coletiva. Tem como objetivo analisar os potenciais psicoterapêuticos e os desafios psicossociais do uso da Ayahuasca por pessoas não indígenas formadas sob pilares antropocêntricos. Para isso, realizou-se uma revisão bibliográfica a fim de construir uma perspectiva teórico-analítica sobre o tema. Como resultados, observa-se que o envolvimento com a bebida pode ser criativo ou destrutivo, considerando o contexto histórico-social de exclusão e marginalização dos povos indígenas desde o período colonial. Além disso, estudos em andamento sobre os efeitos terapêuticos da Ayahuasca indicam que o manejo adequado e o acompanhamento interdisciplinar entre saberes ancestrais e a Psicologia/Psiquiatria Ocidental são imprescindíveis. Conclui-se pela necessidade de uma troca justa e respeitosa com os conhecimentos indígenas, evitando sua apropriação predatória.
