Self-Transcendence as a Risk and Resilience Factor in Individuals at Clinical High Risk for Psychosis.

Early Interv Psychiatry December 20, 2024

Self-transcendence, a personality trait involving a sense of connectedness beyond the self, may act as both a risk and resilience factor for individuals at clinical high risk for psychosis. The text suggests that higher levels of self-transcendence are associated with increased risk for developing psychosis but also with greater resilience in those who do not transition to psychosis. The direction of the effect depends on the context and other factors.
