BASIC METHODS AND APPROACHES TO ARTIFICIAL CONSCIOUSNESS MODELING
News of the Kabardin-Balkar Scientific Center of RAS January 1, 2022 I. Pshenokova
The article reviews methods and approaches for modeling artificial consciousness. It discusses definitions of consciousness from philosophy, psychology, and neurobiology, including functional and neurobiological models. Several approaches to artificial consciousness are presented; while these models fulfill their design purposes, none has yet demonstrated the creation of personal preferences acquired through an agent's body and emotions, which are considered foundational for potential artificial consciousness. The field of general artificial intelligence remains active, with no unified theory for the fundamental principles and methods to create conscious, self-aware intelligent systems.
