Daily Hassles and Coping Strategies of Dual-Earner and Nondual-Earner Women

Psychology of Women Quarterly September 1, 1987 Dona Alpert, Amy Culbertson 26 citations

Women in dual-earner households reported experiencing more daily hassles than women in nondual-earner households, but the intensity of those hassles did not differ between the groups. Both groups used problem-focused coping strategies more often than emotion-focused ones and, unexpectedly, both expressed overall satisfaction with their coping strategies. Several differences in coping strategies appeared both between and within the groups.
