Do mindfulness-based programmes improve the cognitive skills, behaviour and mental health of children and adolescents? An updated meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

Evid Based Ment Health July 12, 2022

An updated meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials examined whether mindfulness-based programs improve cognitive skills, behavior, and mental health in children and adolescents. The analysis found small but significant positive effects on cognitive performance and some mental health outcomes, but effects on behavior were less consistent. The authors suggest that mindfulness programs can be beneficial, but caution that effects are modest and may vary by outcome and population. The review highlights the need for more rigorous research to confirm these findings.
