Localizing value of disturbances of self-integration, depersonalization, and forced thinking: A systematic review.

Epileptic Disord December 10, 2024

Disturbances of self-integration, depersonalization, and forced thinking have localizing value in epilepsy, suggesting involvement of specific brain regions. This systematic review synthesizes evidence from multiple studies to identify which brain areas are associated with these symptoms. The findings indicate that depersonalization often involves the temporoparietal junction, while forced thinking is linked to frontal lobe activity. The review underscores the clinical utility of these symptoms for localizing seizure onset zones.
