Psychotherapy assisted by 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), known publicly as ecstasy, is currently undergoing the approval process. Previous study results suggest good efficacy of MDMA-assisted psychotherapies. Based on a literature review and deepened by expert interviews, this paper outlines what the practice of MDMA-assisted therapy looks like in Switzerland and Australia, where the treatment can already take place under certain conditions.
