Yagé: Crisis de occidente y trabajo espiritual

Universidad y Salud August 2, 2019 Javier Ávila, Mariana Pedroza, Oscar Angulo 3 citations

Facing an epistemological and systemic crisis in Western civilization, yagé (ayahuasca) emerges as an alternative inviting a deep axiological reconsideration. The yagé ritual reveals the limits of modern medical knowledge, prompting a transdisciplinary approach. Its insertion into the free market raises problems of profit at the expense of indigenous traditions. The concept of 'spiritual work' is explored as a practice that seeks to move away from mercantile colonialism while distancing itself from the modern medical model. The review of Web of Science articles on ayahuasca structures information around the context of yagé's incorporation into the West, the limits of modern medical knowledge, and problems of market insertion.
